Nairobi National Park
Nairobi National Park is the only World’s wildlife capital. This park is a unique ecosystem by being the only protected area in the world close to a capital city. Nairobi National Park is only 7km from Nairobi city Centre. The savannah ecosystem also comprises of different vegetation types. The open grass plains with scattered acacia bush are predominant. The western side has a highland dry forest and a permanent river with a riverne forest.
To the south are the Anti Kapiti Plains and the Kitengela migration corridor which are important wildlife dispersal areas during the rainy season. Man-made dams within the park have added a further habitat, favorable to certain species of birds and other aquatic biome.
The major wildlife attractions in Nairobi National Park are the black Rhino, lion, leopards, hyenas, cheetah, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, elands, and the bird species.
The other attractions also include; the Ivory burning site Monument, Nairobi Safari Walk, the Orphanage and the walking trails at hippo pools. The major attractions also include; the wildlife park in the world that is so close to the city, Black Rhinoceros, Rhino sanctuary.
